(Oxnard, CA 6/04/2007) Ventura Raceway will continue its 2007 racing
season at its Ventura County Fairgrounds racing facility this Saturday night
June 9, with a full program of exciting racing action beginning at 5:30pm. On
that night Ventura Raceway will be featuring four adult classes and one junior
class. VRA Sprints and USAC Midgets will headline tonight’s action. After last
weeks exciting night of USAC/CRA Sprint cars and VRA Senior Sprints that saw
2005 VRA Sprint Car Champion Blake Miller take his second USAC/CRA Sprint Car
win, the VRA 360 Sprint Cars, USAC Midgets, Ford Focus Midgets, VRA Sport
Compacts and VRA Junior Focus Midgets are here to continue where they left of on
their last appearances in May.
Led by VRA 360 Point leader Greg Taylor, the VRA 360 Sprints have put on some
of the best racing ever seen at Ventura Raceway. Almost every week we have seen
drivers come on to win in the last few laps of their 30 lap feature events. Greg
Taylor has four win so far in 2007 and he will be going for two in a row
Saturday against the best VRA competitors, including Kevin Kierce, 2006 series
champion Luis Espinoza, Dennis Rodriguez, Eric Severson, Rick Hendrix and rookie
sensation Johnathon Henry who has one feature win so far in 2007. Johnathon
started on the pole and finished 12th in his first ever USAC/CRA event last
weekend.
Also returning to action Saturday will be the mighty USAC Midgets. On their
last visit to Ventura Raceway on May 19 Garrett Hansen passed veteran Robby
Flock on the last lap to take the 30 lap feature event. This battle will surely
resume on Saturday night. Others scheduled to appear include Chris Rahe, Johnny
Rodriguez, Scott Pierovich, Randi Pankratz, C J Sarna, Matt Mitchell and a host
of other fine USAC Midget competitors.
Other classes set to compete Saturday night are our own VRA Sport Compacts,
VRA Junior Ford Focus and USAC Ford Focus Midgets. In the Sport compacts, point
leader Joel Chavez will be going for his fifth win of the season, after his win
on May 19. VRA Junior Focus drivers will resume action with point leader Alex
Bowman and the rest of the class’s drivers trying to stop Austin Mero who has
won the last two races in a row from making it a record three wins in a row.
Finally the USAC/VRA Ford Focus Midgets will getting back to competition, led by
point leader Nic Faas who took the win here on May 19. 2006 VRA Junior Ford
Focus Champion Robby Josett will be here to try to continue his Ford Focus

turning 16 and being able to run with the regular Focus cars.
