NOVEMBER 29, 2007 --- The 2007 United States Auto Club points racing season concluded with the November 22 “tripleheader” at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway and five car entrants will be recognized as 2007 Earl’s Fast Qualifier Championship winners at the USAC “Night of Champions” National Awards Banquet in Indianapolis, Ind. January 19.
The banquet will be held at the Westin Hotel and those honored as 2007 Earl’s titlists include A.J. Foyt/Greer Racing of Waller, Texas (K & N Silver Crown Series), Tony Stewart Racing of Indianapolis (Lucas Oil National Sprint Car Series), Klatt Enterprises of Hastings, Neb. (National Midget Series), Alan Kaiser of Vallejo, Calif. (Lucas Oil Western Sprint Car Series) and Lance Pierovich of Alamo, Calif. (Western Midget Car Series).
Each Earl’s champion will receive a check for $1,000 from Holley Performance Products, while second and third-place finishers in the Earl’s standings will receive $750 and $500 checks respectively. The second-place finishers are Carl Edwards/RE Technologies (Silver Crown), Tony Stewart Racing (National Sprints), Nine Racing (National Midgets), Michael Swanson (Western Sprints) and Mitchell Motorsports (Western Midgets). Finishing third in each series were Sam Pierce, Reutimann Motorsports and RW Motorsports (Silver Crown tie), Dynamics, Inc. (National Sprints), Tony Stewart Racing and Kasey Kahne Racing (National Midgets tie), Ken Kaplan (Western Sprints) and Cruz Pedregon Motorsports (Western Midgets).
Each qualifying session awarded the fast qualifier nine points, followed by six for second, four for third, three for fourth, two for fifth and one for sixth. The championship-wining cars of Foyt and Stewart had three FQs each, Klatt had one, Kaiser had three and Pierovich had two.
