3-RACE EASTERN SPRINT SWING ON HORIZON;
SHORT WINS AT NORTH VERNON,

|
MAY 28, 2007 --- The Lucas Oil USAC National Sprint Car Series heads East next week for races at Bechtelsville and Minersville, Pa. and Hagerstown, Md. Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif. will take a 26-point lead over Levi Jones into the three-race swing following finishes of 13th and fifth in last week’s races at North Vernon and Anderson, Ind.
Brady Short of Bedford, Ind. won Tuesday night’s 29-lap feature at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, a race halted one lap short of the scheduled 30-lap distance by a four-car tangle. Short passed Jesse Hockett on lap 14 and led the rest of the way in his Lucas Oil/Indiana Stoneworks Maxim/Gaerte to beat Kevin Swindell, Dave Darland, Brad Sweet and Hockett. Robert Ballou led the first three laps and Hockett led the next 10.
Jones, of Olney, Ill., flipped through a catch fence at North Vernon, but was able to return to finish eighth. He fared much better in Wednesday night’s Banjo 100 “Glen Niebel Classic” at Anderson Speedway, leading all 100 laps in his Chevrolet/Bass Pro Shops Beast/Chevy to beat Bryan Clauson, Aaron Pierce, Bobby East and Hagen.
