MAY 7, 2007 --- Darren Hagen continues to lead the 2007 Lucas Oil USAC
National Sprint Car standings after finishing sixth in Saturday’s “Casey’s
General Stores USAC Triple Crown” race at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. He
takes a 20-point lead over Kevin Swindell into the 37th “Tony Hulman
Classic” at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track May 19.
Tyler Walker of Los Angeles, Calif. drove a Kasey Kahne-owned car to victory
at Iowa, leading the final 17 laps after passing Hagen on lap nine in his Mopar/Open
Joist Beast/Mopar. Marc Jessup took second ahead of Dave Steele, Swindell and
Bobby East.
Hagen led the opening lap and Jessup led the next four. Hagen took the point
on lap six but yielded to Walker on lap nine. Hagen.
In victory lane, Walker, who is competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series this year, did his patented “flip” for photographers and spectators.
The victory was his first in USAC competition since winning a 2004 Silver Crown
race at Tulsa, Okla.
