| SPRINTS OPEN AT NORTH VERNON & ANDERSON; SUNDAY’S BANJO “GLEN NIEBEL CLASSIC” A 100-LAPPER |

APRIL 9, 2007...The 2007 USAC National Sprint Car Series is scheduled to
debut Saturday and Sunday in Indiana, with 130 laps of feature-event competition
on tap.
Saturday night’s 30-lap race is on the 3/8-mile dirt Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon is the opener, followed by Sunday afternoon’s Banjo Corporation “Glen Niebel Classic” 100-lapper at the 1/4-mile paved Anderson Speedway. The USAC Kenyon Midget Cars share Sunday’s Anderson program, with a 30-lap feature slated. The Tony Stewart Racing Team, last year’s National Sprint Car owner champions, are fielding two cars with drivers Tracy Hines and Levi Jones. Hines won the 2002 title and Jones was the 2005 king. Josh Wise was last year’s driving champion. Dave Darland, the defending “Niebel” champion, owns the 1-lap track qualifying record at both tracks. Drivers will aim for his 13.817 seconds record at North Vernon Saturday, then gun for his 11.360 record at Anderson Sunday. Indiana Sprint Week Champion Jon Stanbrough and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who scored a surprise victory at Phoenix, Ariz. in February, are among entered drivers at North Vernon, while seven-time “Little 500” Champion Eric Gordon and former “Niebel Classic” king Aaron Pierce are among Anderson entries. NASCAR vet Bobby East and California Asphalt Sprint Car Champion Nick Green are also targeting Sunday’s Anderson contest. |
