return to Santa Maria Speedway, Saturday night, for the second week in-a-row,
joined by IMCA Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Mini Stocks.
*Visalia's Jesse Mack scored his fourth 30-lap feature victory of the season
last weekend to extend his point lead over Joey Layman, of Atascadero, to 78,
with third place Jimmy Thompson, of Grover Beach, another 5 points back. Taft's
Jason May dropped from second to fourth in points, 94 markers back, after
mechanical woes kept him from running any event last weekend. Fifth place Bill
Jones, of Santa Maria, is 103 points out of first.
*Santa Maria's Tim Breshears is 14 points up on Arroyo Grande's Chad Weber and
25 ahead of Santa Maria's Danny Lauer in the IMCA Modified division. Jacob Jones
(-33), of Santa Maria, and Chris Whitford (-39), of Buellton, are fourth and
fifth.
*The battle has been joined in the Factory Stock class between point leader Tom
Renner, of Nipomo, and Kirk Morgan of Santa Maria. The two leaders are separated
by only 3 points. Third place Kevin Linson, of Arroyo Grande, is 21 points
behind, followed by Santa Maria drivers Glen Sparks (-36) and Michael Frazier
(-42).
*Two Arroyo Grande drivers are dueling for the lead in the Mini Stock division.
Ken Kehs stretched his lead over Justin Crockett to 18 following his fourth
20-lap feature victory of the season. Matt Sweeney, of Van Nuys, has had some
good runs recently and sits third in points at minus 58. Completing the top-five
are: Ben Caswell (-65), of Santa Barbara, and Aaron Cervantes (-70), of
Atascadero.
*Spectator gates will open at three Saturday night, with qualifying at five and
racing at six. Admission prices will be: $14.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors
(65+), $3.00 for children 6 to 12, 5 and under free. The Speedway no longer
accepts credit cards.
