September 3, 2007 --- Ryan Burdett of West Jordan, Utah is the 2007 USAC/SLVRA Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Champion after his third-place finish in Saturday night’s season finale at Rocky Mountain Raceways. Burdett finished behind Kody Swanson and Jim Waters in the 50-lap feature and completed the 2007 series with a 62-point margin over Waters in the final standings.
Swanson, of Kingsburg, Calif., led the final 42 laps of the race in his Jimmy Wysong-owned machine after passing Mel Andrus on lap nine. Waters finished second, followed by Burdett, fast qualifier Brian McClish and Rick Pardee.
Lucas Oil Western point leader Ryan Kaplan finished seventh and emerged with a 15-point lead over Tony Hunt, who was 10th. The Western series continues Saturday at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif. The Tracy “doubleheader” also features the USAC Western Midget Series.
