August 20, 2007 --- The Young Automotive USAC/SLVRA Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series returns to Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah September 1 and former two-time series champion Jim Waters will be trying to cut further into Ryan Burdett’s point lead, which now stands at only 62.
Waters sliced into the lead again Saturday night, leading the final three laps to win the 40-lap main event in his Port O’Call Beast. The victory was his second this season as he beat Jeff Bergener, Jim Campbell, Paul Marconi and Mike Straub. Mel Andrus and Campbell led early laps, then Bergener led 25 laps before yielding to Waters.
Waters’ victory was his 10th in USAC competition in the state of Utah, third all-time behind Jimmy Wysong (16) and Dave Fitzgerald (13).
