|
JUNE 25, 2007 --- Ryan Burdett will sit on his 39-point lead in the USAC/SLVRA Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car standings for the next month as the series takes a hiatus until July 21.
Burdett finished second in Saturday night’s 40-lapper at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah as two-time former series champion Jim Waters returned to victory lane for the first time in 2007.
Waters, of Salt Lake City, passed Jeff Bergener on lap 20 and led the final 21 laps to beat Burdett, JoJo Helberg, Bergener and Jim Campbell. The win was Waters’ ninth in USAC competition at the track but the first in over two years.
The victory left Waters fifth in the new points, but only 74 back of the leader. Campbell is second in the points, ahead of Bergener, Rick Pardee and Waters.
