JULY 30, 2007 --- Wayne Reutimann Jr. continues
atop the K & N USAC Silver Crown Championship standings as the series now
prepares for the August 18 “Tony Bettenhausen 100” at the Illinois State
Fairgrounds in Springfield.
Reutimann encountered ignition problems 91 laps
into last Thursday’s “J.D. Byrider 100” at O’Reilly Raceway Park at
Indianapolis but his 13th-place finish was enough to give him a seven point lead
over defending series champion Bud Kaeding in the new standings. Kaeding
finished seventh at O.R.P.
Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind. led all 100 laps in
his A.J. Foyt Enterprises Greer Special C & R/Chevy to win Thursday’s
race, the fourth victory for the team by three drivers this season. East started
next to pole-winner Jason Leffler, who made his debut in the new-generation
pavement cars and finished eighth.
Foyt Enterprises teammate Pablo Donoso of Chile
finished second to give the team a sweep of the top two spots, while Tim Barber
took third ahead of Cameron Dodson and Mike Murgoitio. Dodson’s finish left
him just 10 points behind Reutimann in the series tally. Donoso is just two
points back of Dodson.
