APRIL 11, 2007 --- After a three-week hiatus, Sprint Car Racing
Association’s (SCRA) “Wingless Warriors” return to action at Kings
Speedway in Hanford (CA) this Saturday night.
With the anticipated absence of two-time main event winner Ryan Kaplan, who is
committed to his USAC Midget ride, veterans Davey Pombo and Peter Murphy
headline the list of talented competitors. They currently sit second and third
respectively in the point standing (139–136), each looking for their first
main event victory of the young season. Rusty Carlile, who finished second in
the final 2006 standings, is a scant 18 points back in fourth position, looking
to move up-the-ladder.
This powerful threesome will do battle against 2006 champion Jonathan Logan,
Richard Harvey Jr., “dandy” Daniel Hood (fifth in points) and rookie
sensations Justyne Hamblin and Myles Bishop. Sixteen-year-old Hamblin recorded
quick qualifying time during the first event of the season and impressed
everyone with a sixth-place finish (after starting 17th) last time out. Bishop
stunned everyone when he captured the “tune-up” main event opener at Kings
back in February.
Others expected to participate include Brian Schuler, Jeff Gardner, Jesse
Mack, Garrett Ishii, Steven Williams and last season’s Rookie of the Year,
Kevin Barnes.
