Bakersfield, CA – April 11, 2007…The
Tarlton & Son hauler headed into Bakersfield Speedway to race with some of
best and talented 360 non-wing sprint car drivers in the sunshine state last
Saturday.
This race would be round #1 out of
4-rounds in the ultra-competitive series.
The car was fast out of the box, as
Peter was on it in his qualifying laps and took the Tarlton & Son, Tachi
Palace Hotel & Casino, Ridgeline Roofing, Sharp Insurance, VMAC, BR
Motorsports #21, to a blistering mark of 13.787. This was also the fastest lap
in the evening out of the 33-cars in attendance.
After rolling out for heat race #1,
Peter noticed a drop in the oil pressure and quickly pulled the Maxim into the
pits. The Tarlton & Son racing team found that the o-ring on the oil
filter blew out.
The team made the necessary repairs and
got us ready to race in the semi. The always focused “Murph” was on the
loud pedal and brought home the win.
Peter lined up in his 7th
position on the grid in the main event, and as soon as the green flag waved,
Peter had his challengers in his crosshairs and his elbows were up! Peter
wasn’t holding anything back, as he was throwing everything he had at his
fellow competitors. After a spirited battle with the front runners, Peter
brought home a well earned and hard fought 5th place finish.
On
Tap: Peter will again be at the helm of the Tarlton & Son sprint car
this weekend at Kings Speedway April 14th, with the SCRA. The last
time Peter raced at Kings Speedway, was March 24th, where we
finished 2nd with the SCRA.
How
do you feel going into this weekend
after such a strong run at
Bakersfield
? “Pretty good, Jesse Mack and
Davey Pombo (both regular SCRA competitors) had a good go last week. It’s
never easy, and I’m fortunate to have good people around me, like the
Tarlton’s and the crew at BR Motorsports. They have been real good to me,
as-well-as all of my sponsors have. I just hope to go out there and put on a
good show for the fans!”
