(JULY 31, 2007, PERRIS, CA) After more than a
month off, the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series will return to action in
race presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply this Saturday night, August
4th, at Perris Auto Speedway when the track hosts it’s most popular promotion
– Skirt Night. Any fan, female or male, who wears a skirt, dress or moo-moo,
will get in for just $5.00 and will be treated to $1.00 hot dogs and $2.00
beers. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.
“Skirt Night is crazy,” Oval Entertainment President Don Kazarian, said
with a laugh from behind his desk. “Last year we had 50 or 60 men show up
wearing dresses or skirts and we had all of them line up for a beauty contest at
intermission. Then some rather large, bearded guy shows up wearing a purple
moo-moo. He easily won the pageant and served as trophy girl at the end of the
night. The photo showing the look on Damion Gardner’s face when he realized
that guy was his trophy girl is priceless.”
The series took a couple of weeks off to allow teams to travel to Indiana
Sprint Week and was supposed to have been in action last Saturday night at
King’s Speedway in Hanford, California. However, that race was postponed.
Thus, the last time Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars hit the track was at The PAS
on July 4th. Superstar and current series point leader Tony Jones of Norco,
California won that race and will be looking for his third straight series
victory on Saturday. His four wins on the year is best on the circuit. Heading
into Saturday’s race, Jones, who is also known as the “Open Wheel Cowboy,”
holds a commanding 177-point lead in the standings over Temecula, California’s
Mike Spencer. “Super Rickie” Gaunt of Torrance, California, “Showtime”
Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, California and Marion, Indiana’s Scotty Weir
round out the top five in the championship chase.
Saturday’s breathtaking Sprint Car extravaganza will include qualifying,
four 10 lap knock down and drag em’ heat races, a 12 lap B-Main and a
ferocious fight to the finish 30 lap A-Main event. Oh yeah, some hot looking
ladies in skirts and dresses will be on hand along with some skirt wearing guys
who should have known better!
