(FEBRUARY 14, 2007, PERRIS, CA) The
“Mighty Casey” Shuman has thrown his helmet in the ring and will be on hand
to challenge the regulars when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the
USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, February 17th.
Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.
The veteran second generation driver,
who now calls Indiana home, will be steering Dwight Cheney’s Sander
Engineering/Clackson Mopar #42 sprinter when the Eddie Ramirez green flag flies
on Saturday. It will be Shuman’s
first appearance at The PAS in 2007. The
native of Mesa, Arizona has won several main events in the Midwest and dazzled
Arizona fans with a third place finish and a career best USAC/CRA second place
at USA Race Park in Tucson in 2006.
Shuman’s ride in the Cheney car has a
bit of irony about it. JJ Yeley,
now a NASCAR Nextel Cup sophomore, drove for Cheney when he won The PAS season
opener in 2002. This year, JJ’s
father, Jack Yeley, will own Shuman’s full-time ride in the Midwest.
Saturday’s program will include
including qualifying, four 10-lap heat races, a 12-lap B main and a 30-lap A
main event.
On Friday, the red-hot drag racing
action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue.
Friday’s gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.
