Mt. Vernon, IL - August 10. The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint
Car Series will be racing on Saturday night August 18th at the Jefferson
County Raceway in Mt. Vernon, IL. This show was added to the schedule to
fill the T.B.A. spot which had been previously held open on the 2007 MSCS
schedule. The event is a welcome addition to the continuing 2007 season
schedule. Officials of MSCS and Jefferson County Raceway are looking
forward to an exciting and competitive sprint car race program. Racing
is set to begin at 6 o'clock.
Jefferson County Raceway opened on May 27th of this season with a new
promotional team. Jeremy Sneed, Justin Sneed, Marvin Sneed, and Kevin
Greenwalt have taken over at the former Mt. Vernon Raceway which is located on
Wells By-pass Road. The MSCS sprints made their first appearance at the
quarter mile oval in September of 2006 and
were well received by an enthusiastic crowd.
The race will be the second annual Illinois Sprint Car Championship.
The feature will be 25 laps in distance and pay $2,000 to win and $200 to
start. The Defending champion is Hunter Schuerenberg of Sikeston, MO.
Illinois drivers in regular competition when the MSCS Sprint Cars arrive
for a show include three time Champion Alex Shanks of Marion, Mitch and Kyle
Wissmiller of Saybrook, Mat Neely of Robinson, Dave Mallady of Harrisburg,
Randy Bateman and Bill Schemonia of Murphysboro, Doug Canham of Kincaid, Craig
and Patrick Budde of Bartelso, Patrick Bruns of Champaign, Dale
Christian of Rantoul, and Chris Urish of Elkart.
The current points leader for the Midwest Sprint Car Series is Kyle Cummins
of Princeton, IN. He has a victory to his credit this season and has
been a steady top ten performer. The top ten drivers in MSCS points are
listed below and the top five includes Alex Shanks, Mitch Wissmiller,
John Memmer, and Jerry Ruble.
Rookie drivers adding excitement to the mix each and every program include
John Memmer, Arin Mcintosh, Kevin Thomas Jr., Ryan Brewer, and D.J. Ott.
McIntosh won the B-main at Paducah on August 3rd and continues in her quest to
catch Memmer who leads in Rookie Points. Engler Machine & Tool

Five races remain on the 2007 MSCS schedule and the MSCS ILLINOIS SPRINT
CHAMPIONSHIP on August 18th is the last opportunity for Illinois fans to see
the exciting MSCS non-wing sprint cars race on home state, prairie clay this
year.
