MAY 16, 2007 ---- The only two-time King of Indiana will carry a 25-point
advantage into “the ‘Burg” when the King of Indiana Sprint Series (KISS)
sprint cars convene for another round of old school racing at Lawrenceburg
Speedway on Saturday, May 26. Sweeping the first two events, on the Gas City and
North Vernon ovals, Jon Stanbrough leads Brady Short, with Shane Hollingsworth,
Robert Ballou and Jake Martens still in striking distance with seven events
still ahead.
Since Levi Jones opened USAC’s national sprint car campaign with a victory at
Lawrenceburg, Matt Westfall, Chris Windom and Tim Spindler have captured feature
race wins at the renowned facility, underscoring the depth of talent that
compete there regularly. Previous KISS winners at Lawrenceburg include Brandon
Petty and A.J. Anderson. The KISS feature will pay $2,500 to win, $250 to start,
and with this year’s sponsorship by Indiana Stone Works, $100 to take the
green in the B-Main and not transfer to the 30-lap finale.
With Lawrenceburg Speedway’s Budweiser Fan Appreciation Night festivities, the
program will include UMP modifieds and UMRA TQ midgets. General admission is $15
and a pit pass is $30. Keeping racing affordable for families, kids 6 and under
are admitted free, while those 7 – 12 are just $7. The pit gate opens at 4 pm,
the general admission/grandstand gate at 5, with hot laps at 6:20 and racing
beginning at 7 pm. The Speedway is located 1 ½ miles west of I-275 on Rt. 50,
just on the Indiana side of the state line from Cincinnati.
All KISS races follow the rules of the host track. Teams need to check with the
specific track to answer questions regarding track rules. The point fund pays
$1,400 to the champion, $1,000 for second place, followed by $700 (third), $600
(fourth) and $500 (fifth). The 2007 titlist will also receive a special King of
Indiana Sprint Series champion’s helmet sponsored by Sprint Car & Midget
Magazine and Simpson Performance Products, with a unique KISS design by RockStar
Paint.
