January 24, 2007 –- Basketball may be king right now, but to many it simply
means that racing season is just around the corner. Underscoring the
popularity of sprint cars in the Hoosier state, the King of Indiana Sprint
Series (KISS) is bigger than at any other time it its history. Growing to
a slate of seven races in 2005, two additional tracks have boosted this year’s
schedule to nine nights of wheel-to-wheel action.
For the first time since 2001, KISS’s inaugural season, Tri-State Speedway in
Haubstadt, IN, will host KISS racers on July 1st. And North Vernon’s
Twin Cities Raceway Park will contest the first KISS race on the 3/8 mile oval
on May 12. With the return of the six venues that have made KISS one of
the most anticipated racing events of the year, soon it will be time to shout
once again, “Who Wants To Be King?”
SCHEDULE. The first three races kick off the 2007 KISS series in mid-May,
a traditionally busy time for Hoosier racing fans. As has become
traditional, Gas City I-69 Speedway sets the pace with a Friday, May 11, opening
extravaganza. The next night, Saturday, May 12, the KISS racers invade
North Vernon’s Twin Cities Raceway. Two weeks later, Lawrenceburg
Speedway rumbles on Saturday, May 26. After a break of more than four
weeks, the action returns in a big way. An “all KISS, all the time”
weekend begins at Bloomington Speedway on Friday, June 15. With barely
enough time to roll through a car wash, the KISS racers push off at
Putnamville’s Lincoln Park Speedway on Saturday, June 16. Then to round
out the weekend, Kokomo Speedway hosts a big Sunday show on June 17. KISS
turns into the final leg with a critical program at Paragon Speedway a week
later, on Saturday, June 23. Fans will then jump-start their Independence
Day celebrating with a KISS doubleheader, beginning at the Terre Haute Action
Track on Saturday, June 30, followed by the grand finale, crowning the 2007 King
of Indiana Sprints Series at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt on Sunday, July 1.
