19, 2007--- Tony Jones of Norco, Calif. is the 2007 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA driving champion, the first USAC title for the son of legendary USAC racer Bubby Jones. His final point margin was 50 over runner-up Mike Spencer after the two finished sixth and second in Saturday night's series finale at Perris, Calif. Jones' car owner, Alexander Racing, also won the USAC/CRA car owner's championship.
Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif. captured Saturday night's 40-lap "Kindoll Classic" feature at Perris Auto Speedway, leading the first 17 laps and the final one in his Agromin Soil/Sander Engineering Bullet/Kistler Mopar to beat Spencer, Damion Gardner, R.J. Johnson and Chris Windom. Spencer led laps 18-39 but finished .005 seconds back at the checkered flag in one of the closest finishes in series history!
Michael Trimble, Kruseman's teammate, was Saturday night's fastest qualifier.
Jones and his car owner Mark Alexander will be toasted as champions Saturday night at the USAC Western Awards Banquet in Arcadia, Calif. and again January 19 at the USAC National Awards Dinner in Indianapolis, Ind.
