17th “WAGSDASH” SATURDAY AT VENTURA
FEATURES CRA “LOW BUCK GUYS”
|
OCTOBER 2, 2007 --- Saturday’s Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint race program at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway will include the 17th Annual “Wagsdash,” a $2,500-to-win, $500-to-start 20-lap, 16-car race for low-buck teams and drivers. Conceived in 1991 by former USAC/CRA publicist Ken Wagner of Las Vegas, Nev. the race spotlights the “little guy” and has become an annual tradition for race fans.
Wagner selects the field himself based on driver ability and offers drivers a chance to excel in a fun, exciting event. Ordinarily, drivers with two “Wagsdash” victories are excluded, but this year David Cardey and Blake Miller have been invited back and will be joined by 14 other drivers. Eric Severson, who won a race at Ventura last weekend, and hard charger Duane Marcum also have secured starting berths in this year’s race but the majority of the field will be announced Saturday.
In addition to the 20-lap contest, a chili feed and driver memorabilia auction are part of the festivities, along with a sexiest driver contest. T-shirts and calendars will also be on sale for race fans.
Additional information regarding this special event can be found at www.wagtimes.com.
Obviously Saturday night’s program will feature the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint cars in a complete program of races topped by a 30-lap feature. The Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint cars also compete Sunday night at the Southern California Fair at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
