OCTOBER 1, 2007 --- The Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series presents
back-to-back races Saturday and Sunday at Ventura and Perris, Calif., with nine
of the “top-10” drivers in the standings now having claimed 2007 race
victories. Ventura Raceway hosts Saturday night’s events, while the series
returns to Perris Auto Speedway Sunday night during the Southern California
Fair.
Rip Williams of Yorba Linda, Calif. is the latest to join the list of 2007
race winners, leading all 30 laps of Saturday night’s Perris feature in his
John Jory Corporation/AMA Plastics Stinger/Shaver. R.J. Johnson, Josh Ford,
Garrett Hansen and fast qualifier Cory Kruseman rounded out the ”top-five.”
Rickie Gaunt remains the only “top-10” driver yet to win this season.
Three of his six “podium” finishes have come at the Perris oval, so he is
among favorites when the series returns there Sunday.
Blake Miller and Ventura’s own Kruseman have won features at the Ventura
oval this year.
