September 3, 2007 --- David Cardey of Riverside, Calif. became the 14th different feature winner in the 2007 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series Saturday night, winning the 40-lap race at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. He’s the first “new” winner in the series since early-June.
Cardey and the rest of the USAC/CRA regulars are headed for Ventura Raceway in Ventura, Calif. for this Saturday night’s races and Cardey will try to improve on his seventh-place point ranking.
Tony Jones continues to lead the series standings, with a 157-point edge over Mike Spencer following Saturday night’s race, in which Spencer finished second and Jones eighth.
Cardey was the last of four race leaders and led the final two laps in his ITI Performance/Empire Plumbing Bullet/Downing after passing Spencer on lap 39. Garrett Hansen and Blake Miller led early laps before Spencer led 25 of the final 31 laps but finished second. R.J. Johnson was third ahead of Scotty Weir and Hansen.
