August 20, 2007 --- Tony Jones of Norco, Calif. has finished on the podium in the past five Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint races, including his victory at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway Saturday night. He will aim for six when the series returns to The PAS September 1.
Jones extended his blossoming point lead to 174 over Mike Spencer, leading the final 22 laps of Saturday’s race at Perris. Jones passed Danny Sheridan on lap nine and led to the checkered flag in his Alexander Trucking/La Villa Restaurant DRC to beat Sheridan, Scotty Weir, Spencer and David Cardey.
Four of Jones’ five 2007 victories have come at the 1/2-mile Perris oval, while two of Spencer’s four 2007 wins have come at the series’ “home” track.
