Fireworks will light up the sky and the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars will
certainly light up the track when the series resumes competition July 4 at the
Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Tony Jones of Norco, Calif. has a 43-point lead over Mike Spencer of
Temecula, Calif. after Jones became the first driver this year to repeat as a
feature winner at The PAS Saturday night. Jones and his La Villa
Restaurant/Communication Innovations DRC/RC Performance machine led the final
nine laps of Saturday’s 30-lapper after passing Rodney Argo on lap 22.
Argo led the first two laps, then yielded to Blake Miller for th next seven
before taking the point back o lap 10. Argo finished second in the 30-lap race
ahead of Rip Williams, Cory Kruseman and Rickie Gaunt.
Nine different drivers have tasted victory in the 10 races at Perris this
season. Darren Hagen, Garrett Hansen, Spencer, R.J. Johnson, Danny Sheridan,
Scotty Weir, Blake Miller and Cory Kruseman are the others.
A special “Fireworks Sky Concert” is planned as part of the July 4
celebration.
