MAY 28, 2007 - Tony Jones of Norco, Calif. leads the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA
Sprint Car Series to Ventura (Calif.) Raceway Saturday night for the first of
three scheduled 2007 CRA appearances at the track.
Cory Kruseman (twice) and Mike Spencer were the 2006 USAC/CRA winners at
Ventura. Spencer ranks second to Jones in the latest series standings.
Kruseman, who calls Ventura home, won Sunday night’s 30-lap feature at the
Tulare (CA) Thunderbowl Raceway, leading the final 18 laps in his Agromin
Soil/Sander Engineering Bullet/Mopar. Jones led the first 12 laps but faded to
sixth at the checkered flag. Rickie Gaunt, Danny Sheridan, Rodney Argo and Blake
Miller rounded out the “top-five.”
Miller, of Yorba Linda, Calif., scored his first-ever USAC/CRA feature win
Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway in his Black Widow
Racing/Gardner Pipe & Mechanical Sled/Shaver. Following his 40-lap “Salute
to Indy” victory he accepted the winner’s wreath and drank milk in victory
lane. David Cardey, Gaunt, Sheridan and Jones completed the “top-five.” Josh
Ford and Sheridan led feature laps but Miller finally dispatched Sheridan on lap
29 and led the final 12 laps.
