MARCH 26, 2007 --- The USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series continues this Saturday
night at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif., hoping to produce a ninth different
race winner in as many races.
R.J. Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. became the eighth different winner in eight
races so far this season by winning last Saturday night’s 30-lapper at the
Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. He joined 2007 race winners Charles Davis Jr.,
Josh Wise, Tony Jones, Mike Spencer, Garrett Hansen, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and
Darren Hagen in the current streak.
Jones finished third at Perris and retained the series point lead by 46 over
Spencer, who was second Saturday night.
Saturday’s race at Hanford is the first at the 3/8-mile dirt Kings County
Fairgrounds oval since 2005 when Ricci Faria emerged the race winner.
Johnson excaped a first-lap tangle which involved numerous drivers, including
defending series champion Cory Kruseman and Rodney Argo, who both flipped.
Johnson led all 30 laps in his Arizona Race Mart Ellis to beat Spencer, Jones,
Darren Hagen and Dustin Morgan for his first series victory.
