Ventura, CA (January 4, 2007) – 2006 USAC/CRA Sprint Car
Champion, Cory Kruseman announced today that three young talented drivers have
been chosen to participate with his newly formed sprint car team as development
drivers in 2007. California hot shoes Michael Trimble, Alex Schutte and Jake
Vail have signed on to share driving duties in the Kruseman driver development
car. All 3 will have the luxury of learning alongside Kruseman as he will also
field a car for himself.
"The driver development program just seemed like a natural to add to our
driving school" said Kruseman. "Racing together as teammates, we now
have the opportunity to be more hands-on to assist talented drivers showcase
their abilities on a more prominent stage and to further their careers".
Trimble, 20, from San Jose, CA, is a two-time Quarter Midget National
Champion that ran a mix of 360 and 410 non-wing races in 2006 for Trimble
Motorsports. He has sprint car victories in both the Ventura Racing Association
(VRA) and the 360 Grand Slam series. He looks forward to working under the
guidance of Kruseman, "Cory knows what it takes to be successful and I'm
excited to have this opportunity to race as part of his team" stated
Trimble. "Michael has successfully raced sprint cars on dirt and pavement
for a few years now; we believe he's ready to run up front consistently with the
410s." Kruseman voiced. "He will be in the car for most of the
USAC/CRA races and also traveling to some big shows."
17-year old Schutte of Redding, CA is a four-time IKF Karting Champion with
an extensive background in road racing. He spent 2006 competing in and scoring
victories in the SCCA Formula Ford series and was named the Championship Road
Racing Rookie of the Year. "Obviously some of the most successful drivers
today have both pavement and dirt experience, I believe working with Cory will
allow me to improve my abilities on dirt" Schutte declared. "Alex has
raced many different types of cars, his versatility should help him adapt
quickly to sprint cars" expressed Kruseman. "He'll run both in the VRA
360 series and the USAC/CRA series for us this year."
Vail, from nearby Ojai, CA began his driving career in 2005 in the USAC Ford
Focus series and moved up to the VRA 360 series in 2006. He has worked for
Kruseman at his driving school since 2001 and anticipates the challenge of
wheeling a 410 sprinter. "Cory is my mentor and has taught me a lot, I
can't wait" Vail exclaimed. Kruseman added "Jake works for the school,
knows the program, he is smooth and doesn't tend to drive past his limits, and
our goal is to give him a taste of the next level, he'll drive in about four
shows."
The two-car Kruseman Motorsports team plans to debut February 3rd
at Perris Auto Speedway with both Trimble and Schutte, as Kruseman will be
racing a midget in New Zealand during the USAC/CRA opener. Kruseman will return
to compete on February 9th and 10th at Manzanita Speedway
in Phoenix, Arizona. For more information on Kruseman Motorsports or the Cory
