Boat Sinks Sherman's
ASCS Canyon Region Streak with Casa Grande Gold

GRANDE, Ariz. (May 12, 2007) – It took a 15-year-old dynamo in the form of
Chad Boat to put a screeching halt to a seemingly unstoppable Jeremy Sherman
in American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region action, as the young gun charged
to victory lane in Saturday night's 25-lap feature at Central Arizona Raceway. Boat's
strong drive to the winner's circle snapped a four-race win streak by Sherman
in ASCS Canyon Region competition. While
Boat, the son of past Indy car racer and Chili Bowl champion Billy Boat,
started the feature event from the front row outside, it was past Arizona
state Sprint Car champion Charles Davis, Jr., gunning into the lead at the
drop of the green flag. But
the young Boat kept the pressure on before finally muscling into the lead
midway through the feature event and then fighting off a late challenge to
snare his first career ASCS feature victory and second overall Sprint Car
feature win aboard the Billy Boat Performance Exhaust/Room Store No. 30 Maxim. Sherman
fought his way into the runner-up position in the final rounds, with Davis
settling for the show position. Josh
Pelkey snared fourth, with Mike Martin posting his best run of the season by
rounding out the top five. Bernie
Smith was sixth, with Andrew Reinbold, Bob Ream, Jr., Michael Colegrove and
Jeff Henry completing the top ten. Bruce
St. James and J.T. Imperial both flipped in the feature event.
There were no injuries. Reinbold,
