TULSA, Okla. (April 17, 2007) – There has been a change to the American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region schedule, with the next scheduled event on April 28 to now be contested on Manzanita Speedway's 1/3-mile clay oval in Phoenix, AZ.
Originally scheduled for Manzanita's ½-mile, the decision has been made to move the event to the 1/3-mile oval after two consecutive outings on the bigger track.
Jeremy Sherman will not only try to keep his point lead intact, but will also try to keep a perfect record by going for a fourth consecutive ASCS Canyon Region victory as the track celebrates 50 years with the voice of Manzanita Speedway, Windy McDonald, on April 28.
Sherman leads the way into the event on the 1/3-mile with a 32 point lead over Josh Pelkey. Mike Leslie is currently ranked third, with 18-year-old Rookie contender Jeremy Reagles in fourth. Mike Martin and 16-year-old Michael Colegrove are currently tied for fifth.
The ASCS Canyon Region brings the best in wingless Sprint Car racing to Arizona in 2007 with a slate of 24 events. In addition to Manzanita Speedway, the series will also be in action at Tucson's USA Race Park and Casa Grande's Central Arizona Raceway over the course of the season.
The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with the series set to sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
