Sherman Marches On to Another ASCS Canyon Region Win
by Lonnie Wheatley

PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 14, 2007) – Jeremy Sherman is batting a perfect percentage as he raced to his third American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region victory in as many tries by topping Saturday night's 25-lap feature atop Manzanita Speedway's ½-mile clay oval.

Youngster Chad Boat led the feature field to the green flag from the pole position, but it was two-time and reigning Arizona State Sprint Car champion Sherman snaring the point and ultimately collecting another checkered flag aboard Fred Bryan's F&E Development/Impact Racing No. 77 Maxim.

Sherman, who had earned the front row starting slot with a strong charge from eighth to second in the Pole Dash, was chased to the stripe by Charles Davis, Jr., Jerry Coons, Jr., Josh Pelkey and 19th-starter Bernie Smith.

Chris Bonneau advanced from 17th to sixth, with 15th-starter Andrew Reinbold, 21st-starter Bruce St. James, Ronnie Clark and 18th-starter Seainn Hendricsen completing the top ten.

Pelkey, Davis, Sherman and rookie shoe Jeremy Reagles each snared heat race victories, with Bonneau topping the "B" Main.

The evening was marred by several wild crashes, including a Shon Deskins tumble in heat race action and feature flips by Michael Colegrove and Mike Leslie. Deskins was transported to an area hospital as a precautionary measure, but was otherwise uninjured.
