April 10, 2006...Kody Swanson of Kingsburg,
Calif. and Jimmy Wysong of Salt Lake City, Utah open defense of their 2005 USAC
driving championships this weekend as the Western and Young Automotive Rocky
Mountain Sprint Car Series combine for back-to-back Friday and Saturday night
programs at Meridian Speedway in Boise, Idaho.
Swanson finished second and third in last year’s
Boise
openers, while Wysong scored a pair of eighth-place
finishes in the two
Idaho
feature events.

San Francisco
,
Calif.
, who scored a great third-place finish in this
year’s USAC Silver Crown race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in
Florida
, returns this weekend to the site of his
season-opening Sprint car victory a year ago.
The two-night program offers complete preliminaries each night, capped by
a 40-lap main event Friday and a 50-lapper Saturday. Total prize money of
$28,950 plus contingencies has been posted.
Track operator Kenny Hamilton and multi-time
Utah
champion Dave Fitzgerald also bear watching in this
weekend’s
Boise
races, along with the normal contingent of Western
and
Rocky
Mountain
regulars.
Former Western series champ Tony Hunt and former
Rocky
Mountain
titlist Jim Waters are also expected to compete,
along with lady driver Shauna Hogg.
