(Oxnard,
CA., November 6, 2006) November
11, at 5:30pm, marks the return to action of three adult classes and
two junior classes at Ventura Raceway’s Ventura County Fairgrounds
facility. Coming out for
their final night of racing in the 2006 season will be the VRA Senior
Sprints led by point leader Ron Bach, VRA Pony Stocks led by 2006
Series Champion Jack Hoyt and VRA Dwarf Cars led by point leaders
Brian Saxton in Pros and Johnny Lynch in Seniors.
Our first year junior classes are also making their final
appearance Saturday night. Christian Copley leads the Junior Midget
Division into this event. Our Mini Dwarfs are completing a season that has seen
consistent growth.
VRA
Seniors have had another great season of close competitive racing.
Ron Bach leads the over 45-year-old set into this final event
of their 2006 season. He
leads second place challenger, Bruce Douglass Jr. by 815 points.
Bach needs only to have a reasonable finish by scoring 235 out
of 1050 possible points available to clinch the title for 2006.
Also chasing Bach and Douglass are Bob Alderman and Steve Stasa.
2006
Pony Stock Champion Jack Hoyt clinched his first VRA Title on the last
appearance of the Pony Stocks. Saturday
night he will be going for win number 7 of the 14 events run this
year.
Going
into Saturdays Dwarf Car finale, Brian Saxton holds a narrow lead over
Chuck Lippert. Both will
be in action on Saturday night to try to take the 2006 championship. In Senior Division action Johnny Lynch will be going all out
to hold off Ed Niedzwiecki in the final event of 2006. Lynch holds a 145-point lead going into Saturday’s action
with a total of 220 maximum points available.
In
our Junior classes, Christian Copley holds a narrow 110-point lead
over Chris Olson entering the final night of their 2006 season. Mini Dwarf Cars will also be on the card for their final
event of the year. This
class gives no points per race so there will be no champion crowned in
this division.
VRA
Regular 360 Sprints are not racing this weekend but will make their
final appearance next Saturday, November 18, as a part of the USAC
Ford Focus National Championship event.
Point leader Luis Espinoza will be going for his first VRA
Championship that night against all the top VRA competitors on that
night.
