(Oxnard,
CA 9/26/06) Ventura Raceway
continues its 2006 racing season this Saturday night September 30, at 5:30pm
with a full program of open wheel and stock car racing at its Ventura
County Fairgrounds Facility in Ventura, CA.
Four adult classes and one junior Class will highlight the night’s
racing action.
Headlining
the night will be the VRA 360 Sprint Cars, led by season point’s leader Luis
Espinoza. Last race winner Derek
Buckley, who took his first ever win on September 23, Kevin Kierce, Greg Taylor,
Jimmy Crawford, Chris Wakim and a host of other fine sprint car drivers will all
be there to entertain the fans in attendance with some of the best short track
sprint car racing to be seen anywhere. This program will feature four heat races, semi main events
and a thirty lap main event.
Also on
the agenda for Saturday night are the USAC Midgets.
These high-powered racers always put on exciting racing whenever they
come to Ventura. Garrett Hansen,
Robby Flock, Chris Rahe, and Tyler Brown have all taken wins here so far in
2006. They will be back to
challenge point leaders Jerome Rodela and Chase Barber on Ventura’s tight 1/5
mile track.
VRA/USAC
Ford Focus Midgets will also be on the racing card this weekend.
These self-starting midget racers are always crowd favorites as they race
around Ventura’s tight 1/5 mile oval. Keith
Janca leads Chris Veach by only two points in their season long point’s
battle. They will both be here on
Saturday to battle to see who will be on top after the night’s racing.
All the rest of the Ford Focus stars will also be there to try to gain on
them.
Our
final adult class for this Saturday is the VRA Pony Stocks.
This is an entry-level class for four cylinder American and foreign stock
cars. Jack Hoyt is the current
point leader will be here to keep the rest of the drivers in this class behind
him. So far all
the wins in this class have been by front wheel drive cars.
Can a rear wheel drive car win this weekend?
Only time will tell.
The
final class racing this weekend will be the VRA Junior Focus racers.
The last time that these 13-16 year old racers raced, point leader Robbie
Josett took the win. He will be
here to go for two in a row Saturday.
