(Oxnard, CA 6/19/06)
After a great night of
racing last week at Ventura Raceway, we get back to action this Saturday night
June 24, at 5:30 with a full program of Sprint Car, Pony Stock, and IMCA
Modifieds.
VRA
Sprints and Senior Sprints will headline the night with exciting open wheel
competition. Last week’s winners
Troy Rutherford in regulars and Bruce Douglass, in Seniors, will be back to
challenge their peers in hard fought racing action around Ventura’s 1/5 mile
oval. Jimmy Crawford still leads in regular VRA Sprints, while Ron Bach moved
into the lead in Senior Sprints last week.
All the
top VRA regular, including Kevin Kierce, Greg Taylor, Chris Wakim, Luis Espinoza
will be back to go for the win in this outstanding series.
Last week Rutherford took the win by less than a car length over Taylor
at the end of their 30-lap feature event.
Senior
Sprints saw Bruce Douglass take his first win of the season over past series
champion Ron Bach and Bob Alderman. Bach’s
second place finish moved him ahead of Alderman in the season point’s race, in
this jhotly contested series for over 45 year old drivers..
VRA
Pony Stocks return to action Saturday night with point leader Jack Hoyt trying
to hold off his fellow Pony Stock competitors. In their last race Joel Chavez
took the win in his front wheel drive Honda.
We are still looking for the first rear wheel drive win in 2006.
It could happen this week. Andrew
Greiman, Jim Evans, Randall Dougan, Paul Douglas and a host of other drivers
will be gunning for wins this weekend.
IMCA
Modifieds will continue their season this weekend with first time winner Rowdy
Rick Rodarte going for two in a row. He
took win number one last week over past champion Donald Houghton and a fine
field of fifteen other modified drivers.
