July 31, 2006 –Tony Stewart Racing teammates Levi Jones and Josh Wise will lead the USAC National Sprint Car Series to Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach (Granite City), Ill. Sunday night as they continue their battle for the 2006 series championship.
Jones, of Olney, Ill., is the defending champion and holds a 33-point lead over Wise, of Riverside, Calif., USAC’s 2005 National Midget Series
titlist.
Ironically, despite numerous podium finishes so far this season, neither Jones nor Wise has won a National Sprint feature yet! Jones’ lone USAC Sprint win came in a CRA race at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz. in March, a race which Wise led until he crashed.
A 30-lap feature is on tap at the 1/2-mile track where Jay Drake won last year. Drake ranks ninth in the latest USAC National Sprint Car standings.
