SPRINTS “OFF” THIS WEEK; PREP FOR ELDON, WINCHESTER
HAGEN TAKES “PIERCE 50,” RAIN HALTS KOKOMO AGAIN
|
May 29, 2006...Josh Wise will lead the USAC National Sprint Car series to dirt and pavement events June 9 and 11 following a “week off” for the “Thunder & Lightning” series. Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. hosts the Friday night, June 9 race, while the “Kenny Irwin Memorial” is set for Sunday afternoon, June 11.
Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif., who ranks fourth in the new standings, ended up winning Wednesday night’s “Sam Pierce Chevrolet 50” at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway in a race halted twice by rain. Hagen was running third at the lap 33 stop but leaders Daron Clayton and Tim Barber were involved in separate incidents, leaving Hagen as the winner when the race was halted a second time after 35 laps were complete. Clayton had led the first 34 laps.
Trailing Hagen’s Massey Truck Repair/Southwest Crane Beast/Chevy were Dave Darland, Dave Steele, Levi Jones and Eric Gordon.
Thursday night’s race at the Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway was rained out and track and USAC officials are working on a possible rescheduling.
