April 11, 2006...The USAC National Sprint Car Series now prepares for a back-to-back “doubleheader” weekend April 22-23, with events at the Lawrenceburg and Winchester (Ind.) Speedways.
The April 22 Lawrenceburg race is part of the track’s biggest racing weekend ever, while the “Rich Vogler Classic” unfolds on Winchester’s paved high banks on April 23.
Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. finds himself atop the new series standings after leading all 100 laps to win Sunday’s “Banjo 100” at the “Seventh Glen Niebel Classic” at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway. He leads Tracy Hines by 24 points in the standings after his victory in the Hoosier Race Tires/Weld Wheels Beast/Claxton.
Dave Steele posted a new 1-lap track qualifying record at Anderson, then trailed Darland to the checkered flag, completing a sweep for the Walker-Guiducci Racing Team. Josh Wise, Bobby Santos III and Marc Jessup rounded out the top-five in the 100-lap race.
