USAC ANNOUNCES TELEVISION TALENT FOR
2006 SEASON
|
January 10, 2006...INDIANAPOLIS - The cast for USAC's return to
television has been set for the 20 shows to be televised on The Outdoor Channel
during the 2006 season.
Veteran Motorsports announcer Jack Arute will call all 20 races and will be
joined by color commentator Rob Klepper. Indianapolis native Brienne Pedigo will
join the duo from pit lane.
Arute, who has been a pit commentator for the Indianapolis 500 since 1988 as
well as a sideline reporter for college football games on ABC Sports, will call
USAC races for the first time in 2006, but is not a new to this level of the
sport. He competed in three Ford Focus races at the Speedrome in 2005.
Arute graduated from the University of Vermont in 1972 with a bachelor of art's
degree in psychology and communications. He is excited to be part of USAC's
broadcasting crew in 2006.
"It's a great opportunity to be associated with what I think is going to be
one of the fastest growing Motorsports segments in America," Arute said.
"We 've seen countless guys go on to become stars, and with the legacy the
Thunder series has had in the past, it's a win-win situation for everyone
involved."
Klepper, a graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in
broadcasting, cut his teeth at ASU's student radio station, having cut his teeth
covering football and hockey games before announcing races in 2002 at Kings
Speedway in Hanford, Calif.
The former All-Star Circuit of Champions announcer will also announce several of
USAC's National events in 2006 on the public address system and over the
internet, and will serve as USAC's website advertising coordinator.
"It's great to have the opportunity to work with USAC as the announcer for
its National divisions, in addition to working with Jack Arute and the rest of
the TV crew for The Outdoor Channel broadcasts," said Klepper, formerly of
Caruthers, Calif. "I know most of these drivers and teams from my days as a
crew chief, and I look to combine my knowledge of them with an entertaining mix
of pre-produced material and other surprises. We're looking forward to an
exciting season in 2006."
Pedigo, who graduated from New York University with a bachelor's degree in
theatre and a minor in journalism, has been involved in several disciplines in
performance and reporting. She has been part of multiple theatre performances
with NYU and Indiana-based productions.
Professionally, Pedigo has been part of the ESPN network, having commentated on
auto racing events and on the Professional Bowling Association. Her father,
Gary, holds joint ownership for two-time Indy Racing League champion Panther
Racing team.
"I've been around racing my whole life, and I'm looking forward to getting
the opportunity to get the nation excited about USAC racing and these new
cars," Pedigo said. "We have a really great group of drivers and cars,
and this season should be one for the ages."
The first of the 20 shows is scheduled for Feb. 1 with the airing of the 50-lap
"Copper World Classic" Silver Crown Series race from Phoenix
International Raceway.
