January 18, 2006...The young guns of SCRA’s 360 c.i. non-winged sprint
car series, often referred to as the “Wingless Warriors,” will appear once
again at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway in 2006.
Returning for their second season of competition, the
series features the talents of the recently crowned (2005) champion Chad
Bosepflug, the 17-year-old “Hanford Hornet,” battling against long-time
rivals Steven Williams, Danny Olmstead, Richard Harvey Jr. and Jonathan Logan.
“Hungry” drivers seeking to knock-off the top-five in points from
last year include Chris D’Arcy, Jim Richardson, Matt Day and local hero Davey
Pombo, who has committed to running a full season with SCRA.
The fledgling group will appear on the same program with
the 410 c.i winged machines of the Golden State Challenge series on April 1st,
15th, and 29th, June 24 and July 21/22, designated as the Pombo/Sargent Classic.
According to
track publicist Dan Fleisher, “Our fans were impressed with the tremendous
competition SCRA provided last year and we’re pleased to provide a ‘home’
for them in 2006. The fans will certainly get their money’s worth when viewing
both winged and non-winged sprints on the same program. It’s the best of both
worlds.”
