May 23rd, 2006...In only his 12th dirt Sprint Car start, rising star
Michael Trimble from San Jose, California, put together 30 perfect laps to bring
home his 1st dirt Sprint Car main event at Bakersfield Speedway in Oildale,
California.
Michael won the opening round of "The Grand Slam" series on the
tricky bullring.
What makes this win so special is that it was against the best California 360
Sprint Car racing has to offer, with different sanctioning bodies gunning for
bragging rights.
The win came one week after leading laps 1-29 at the always racy Ventura
Raceway in Ventura, California. Michael fell one lap short of winning the
feature event.
Michael and The Trimble Motorsports team would not be denied this weekend, as
he qualified a stout 6th out of 43 cars.
"MT" put the immaculately prepared #15T Maxim in the main event, by
getting his elbows way up, and taking the Weld Racing Wheels to their limits.
Michael and The Weld Wheels performed flawlessly, with both doing their
job. The Trimble Motorsports mount went into the main event, via a transfer
through Heat 4.
In the fast paced feature event, crew chief Tommy Horne hit the setup, and
Michael drove an extremely smart race, saving his tires after the track took
rubber half way through the 30 lap race, to bring home the big feature win.
