August 28, 2006...It’s “crunch time” for USAC/SLVRA Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series combatants Jimmy Wysong and Jim Waters. The penultimate series race is Monday at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah and Waters faces a 42-point deficit in his bid to unseat the defending champion.
Dave Fitzgerald trails Wysong by 83 points but only 74 are available Monday.
Wysong has been dominant in 2006, winning six of the nine races contested so far. Jim Campbell and Ryan Burdett are the only other series regulars to post wins this season, while Brian McClish and Tony Hunt also own series victories.
Three series point leaders are USAC’s winningest drivers of all time in the Beehive State. Wysong has 14 career wins, while Fitzgerald has 12 and Waters eight.
