ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPRINTS CONTINUE SATURDAY
|
May 8, 2006...Competitors in the 2006 USAC/SLVRA Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series are wondering if they can stop defending champion Jimmy Wysong this Saturday at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Wysong won five of the 11 races on his way to the 2005 title and won the 2006 series opener at the 3/8-mile paved oval. He leads Dave Fitzgerald by four points entering Saturday night program. Fitzgerald did not win a race last after scoring two victories during the 2004 campaign.
Two-time series champion Jim Waters could be Wysong’s top challenger. Waters is sixth in the current standings but won five times in 2004 and once last year. Jim Campbell and Rick Pardee will also be looking for the victory lane they found during the 2005 series.
