TYLER, CLAUSON AMONG TOP ENTRIES FOR
54TH "HOOSIER HUNDRED"
|
SPARTA, Ky. - The revitalized 54th edition of the "Hoosier
Hundred" entry list reads like a who's who of the top open-wheel dirt track
drivers across the country, and many drivers - including Brian Tyler and Bryan
Clauson - are looking for a piece of history in the biggest dirt race of the
USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N Engineering season.
As the series point leader, Tyler leads competitors into Friday's prestigious
"Hoosier Hundred" at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis,
round three of the USAC Silver Crown Series and the first of five dirt races on
the series calendar.
The Parma, Mich. native won the second race of the season at Homestead-Miami
Speedway in a new generation pavement car, however, this weekend drivers return
to the traditional dirt cars for the revived event, one which was called off in
March but returned to the schedule last month.
Tyler has yet to win the "Hoosier Hundred," but the Parma, Mich.
native, driving for Team 6-R, has won at the Illinois and DuQuoin State
Fairgrounds one-mile tracks.
Also entered is defending winner Teddy Beach as well as previous winners Dave
Darland and Tony Elliott.
Clauson of Noblesville, Ind., who won Sunday's USAC National Sprint Car Series
race at Concord Motorsport Park in North Carolina, is entered for his series
debut, driving for BWB Racing of Terre Haute. If Clauson, a member of Chip
Ganassi's Driver Development program, wins the race, he will become the youngest
driver to win in all three of USAC's National divisions. He is already the
youngest to win in the National Sprints and Midgets.
