Tulare, Ca - August 9, 2006... SCRA, the wingless 360 c.i. Sprint Car group has the great honor of headlining the reopening of Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA this Saturday night, August 12th. The speedway, which presented only two events since August of 2005, comes to life once again under the new management of ABI Motorsports, LLC.
Known as the “Wingless Warriors,” with there “back ‘um in” style of racing through the turns, SCRA will run five times this season and use the “King of Dirt Tracks” as their home facility in 2007.
Heading the list of young, talented drivers is Chad Boespflug, the teenage “Hanford Hornet,” who captured the 2005 SCRA championship. Boespflug, who has been campaigning with USAC’s 410 c.i. Sprint division, has an open night and will mount his familiar No. 98 Stinger Chassis sponsored machine against potent rivals Jonathan Logan, the current point leader who is fresh off his thrilling victory last Saturday at Chowchilla, Rusty Carlile, who trails Logan by a mere 12 points, Richard Harvey Jr. and Andy Ferris.
Steven Williams, who narrowly lost the championship last year to Bosepflug, returns to action for only the second time this season after suffering a broken collarbone back in April. Williams was extremely impressive in his return to the wars last weekend, finishing second to Logan in the feature.
Upwards of 30 cars are expected to compete for the honor of winning the inaugural event under the new management at the “old” track including several entries from VRA, Ventura Raceway Association’s popular sprint group.
A full program of qualifying, heat races, a Trophy Dash, “B” main and 30-lap Feature is scheduled. For information regarding starting times and ticket prices, call 559/587-1111.
