June 7, 2006...SCRA’s 360 c.i. wingless sprint cars will make their first-ever appearance at Watsonville’s (CA) Ocean Speedway on Friday, June 9, according to Race Director Richard Harvey Sr. The traveling group, now in its sophomore season, has expanded its array of tracks for the benefit of drivers and non-winged racing fans.
Expected to participate at the 1/4-mile dirt facility are the top six in season points led by leader Evan Suggs, winged sprint car legend Brent Kaeding, Richard Harvey Jr., last week’s Quincy Main Event winner Jonathan Logan, Rusty Carlile and Australian transplant Peter Murphy.
These talented, fearless drivers will contend against “poachers” in the likes of “Cowboy” Craig Smith, with possible appearances by Golden State Challenge stars Jason Statler and Kevin Plyant. They’ll all being vying for the hefty $1,000 winner’s purse.
SCRA will return to Ocean Speedway on Friday, June 16 as part of a two-day excursion with Chowchilla Speedway on Saturday the 17th.
