April 4, 2006...High school and college teams have cheerleaders who “whoop it up” and get the fans involved. SCRA is asking its fans to get involved by sending the following cheer to Mother Nature. “Rain, rain, go away, don’t come again another day.”
After having their first three events of 2006 cancelled due to rain, the 360 c.i. “Wingless Warriors” sprint car group is hoping to get things off the ground this Saturday night (April 8) at Chowchilla Speedway, the site of the first postponement two week ago. If Saturday’s event is unable to be run, Track Promoter Tom Sagmiller is hoping to reschedule for Sunday afternoon.
SCRA, beginning its sophomore year of fierce competition, not only hopes the weather clears for Saturday, but is looking for Mother Nature’s help in the way of clear skies for the remainder of this year’s schedule.
Drivers anxious to buckle up and put the pedal to the metal include Steven Williams and Danny Olmstead, who finished second and third in last year’s point standings. Other top-flight competitors include Richard Harvey Jr., Jonathan Logan, Ricci Faria, Aaron Chaney and Jim Richardson.
For information regarding the viability of running the events and ticket prices, call Chowchilla Speedway at 559/665-7223.
