An
explosive six nights of wingless Sprint Car racing action are slated for this
August as the O’Reilly Sprint Bandits Tour ‘N Topless series has set its
second annual swing through the Midwest.
The
Sprint Bandits TNT Midwest swing will kick off on Tuesday night, August 8, with
the prestigious Non-Wing Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa’s Southern Iowa
Speedway, which features a $30,000 winner’s share.
Levi Jones is the race’s defending winner, as he kicked off his 2005
Sprint Bandits TNT championship charge with a big payday.
A
week later, upon the conclusion of the Knoxville Nationals, the wingless
warriors kick up the clay with the Second Annual Huskerland Non-Wing 410 Sprint
Car Nationals at Nebraska Raceway Park’s I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE, on
Tuesday night, August 15.
Last year, Jones outdueled Dickie Gaines early then held off Bud Kaeding
to top a thrilling initial edition of the Huskerland Nationals.
A
couple of new TNT stops are next on the agenda, with Wichita’s 3/8-mile 81
Speedway slated for Wednesday night, August 16.
It will mark the first wingless, 410-ci Sprint Car event at 81 Speedway
since 2001 when Mike Kirby beat Richard Griffin and John Scott to the line in
SCRA action.
On
Thursday night, August 17, the O’Reilly Sprint Bandits TNT series brings the
unparalleled excitement of wingless Sprint Cars to “The Diamond of Dirt
Tracks”, Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO, for the first time in track
history.
The
series then wraps up with the traditional two-night Kansas classic at Lakeside
Speedway in Kansas City, KS.
The August 18-19 double offers up $10,000 to the winner of the Saturday
night finale. Bud
Kaeding held off Jones to win the ’05 edition of the race, marking his second
