Peter Shepherd to Pilot Pavement Car for Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing |

Memphis, Tenn. – March 20, 2006 – Car owner Carl Edwards and Team Manager Chris Santucci announced today that Peter Shepherd would pilot the Ford powered No. 99 Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing, C&R Chassis USAC Silver Crown™ car at Homestead this weekend. “Peter has shown that he can adapt to new situations really quickly,” said Edwards. “Everyone at Roush Racing believes in him and it is an honor to get Jack (Roush) to steer one of the top Driver X performers to our team.” Peter Shepard finished in the top six in the Roush Racing Driver X program this past year. “I never thought I would be in a Silver Crown car and thanks to Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing and the folks at Roush, it is becoming a reality,” smiled the 19-year-old Canadian. “It has always been a dream of mine to run in these cars. I am looking forward to driving for the team.” The Brampton, Ontario native tested with the team during the Hoosier Open Test at Homestead, Fla. last month and again last week in a 2003 model Silver Crown car at Memphis, Tenn. “His personality is overwhelming,” stated Santucci. “I can see why the people at Roush think so much of him. During the tests, he did everything that he was asked to do and did it well.” Peter Shepherd recorded his first win in a stock car at age 13. That same year he claimed both the Rookie and the Driver of the Year titles at Flamboro Speedway. He also won the first annual Don Biederman Achievement Award. Shepherd was named CASCAR Super Series Rookie of the Year in 2004. USAC Veteran Jerry Coons Jr. piloted the No. 99 for the team at Phoenix. “Jerry Coons performed well for us at the inaugural race for the new generation Silver Crown car,” said Edwards. “His experience and communication skills helped us take a car straight from the factory and make it a potential winner. Jerry’s input helped us at Phoenix and will continue to help us for the rest of the season.
