Avondale, Ariz. – Jerry Coons Jr. and the Carl
Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team finished 9th today at Phoenix
International Raceway in the USAC Silver Crown Series inaugural race in the new
generation car. The No. 99 Ford powered C&R Racing chassis had a solid
weekend at PIR turning in top four lap times in every practice session. On
Saturday, Coons qualified the car 6th. The No. 99 started in 5th but just after
halfway into the 50 lap feature, Jerry Coons pulled the car into the pits due to
a water leak.
“The C&R Racing chassis performed great all week,” stated Coons.
“Unfortunately, the water leak prevented us from a sure top five.”
“The Ford engine kept us up front all weekend,” said Team Manager Chris
Santucci. “The C&R engineers and our team worked well together. We
didn’t win this one but with the team we have here at Carl Edwards/ R.E.
Technologies Racing, Ford engines and C&R Racing, we will definitely be
ready for Homestead.”
The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team along with the other competitors
will challenge the 1.5 mile oval at Homestead-Miami Speedway March 25-26.
