Placerville Speedway welcomes community contingency sponsors for 2006 season
by Bill Sullivan
PLACERVILLE, CA – As the 2006 racing season gets underway this Saturday, John Padjen Motorsports and Placerville Speedway are proud to announce their 2006 contingency awards for the championship racing season featuring 360 powered sprint cars, pro stocks and pure stocks in 14 battles for the coveted championship titles.

While the El Dorado County New Car Dealers Association and Hoosier Racing Tires return as the title sponsors for 2006, several area business establishments have committed to various awards in the season to come. Community contingency sponsors are commonly local establishments who wish to award cash bonuses or products weekly to show their support of El Dorado County’s only professional spectator sport that draws more than half a million dollars in revenue to the businesses community of El Dorado County.
For the third consecutive season, In N Out Burger of Northern California will return as a victory lane sponsor. Being rotated among the various participating sponsors, In N Out Burger will present more that $1800 in contingency awards during the season to come in the form of team meal packages for feature winners and various nightly awards for both competitors and race fans.

In addition to returning to Placerville Speedway, the Southern California based food chain will expand its sponsorship program to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico this season. Three years ago Placerville Speedway was the first motor sports venue to be awarded support from the successful fast food chain. Since that time In N Out Burger has not only expanded to Placerville’s sister speedway but recently sponsored a Southern California based wingless team as well due to the publicity and marketing growth within the sport.

Returning for their second season with Placerville Speedway will be the well known grocery store, Food 4 Less of Cameron Park, Vallejo and Woodland. Food 4 Less has committed to more than $2500 in contingency prizes throughout the year in the form of $25 gift cards that will be rotated among feature winners and various finishing positions throughout the season. Food 4 Less of Cameron Park is a popular stopping point for race teams traveling U.S. 50 from the Central Valley to the speedway each week and the contingency program awarded by the grocery chain is just one way in which they give back to the community that supports them.

New to the awards program this season will be Tool Depot of Placerville. Located on China Garden Road near Diamond Springs, Tool Depot is a retail and commercial supplier for quality tools and equipment for a variety of trades. During each championship event, Tool Depot will award a gift certificate for a case of motor oil to the fourth place finisher in each of the feature events for the sprints, pure and pro stock division.
This sponsorship was acquired and coordinated through Dan Ramey of DSR Graphics and Signs. Ramey works on the fuel track weekly at Placerville Speedway and will present each eligible driver with his or her award the week following their fourth place finish. In addition to assisting with the Tool Depot sponsorship program, Ramey’s DSR Graphics and Signs in Cameron Park will return as a season sponsor as well, providing needed graphic and signage for track promotions throughout the season to come.

As mentioned in a previous press release, the Cold Springs Community Church of Placerville is the official fast qualifier sponsor of the season to come. CSCC will award a $50 cash prize to the fast qualifier in the sprint car division for each event and will award $100 to the first driver of the season to clinch a new track record.

With the many community contingency sponsors, the 2006 racing season appears to be warmly welcomed by several area businesses that recognize the economic impact Placerville Speedway has on El Dorado County. In a previous economic impact study, it was found that average race team spends more than $180 per night within El Dorado County on race dates, which averages more nearly $16,000 or more spent overall at area eateries, lodges or fueling stations. Combining both the expenditures of spectators and participants, auto racing enthusiasts bring more than half a million dollars into the business community surrounding Placerville Speedway.
