The PRA Big Car Series (formerly the sprint-car-like USAC Silver Crown Cars)
will conclude its successful 2006 season with a 100-lap event at USA
International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., on Wednesday, December 13. The All
Star Modified Challenge will serve as a support event and is expected to draw
entries from the USA Modified Tour, American Modified Series and FASCAR series.
This exciting double header event at USA International Speedway will be some
of the premier racing action during PRI week, to be raced in front of top racing
industry officials as well as a slew of NASCAR Nextel Cup Stars. The headlining
race will be the first ever running of the PRA Big Car Series (formerly the
sprint-car-like USAC Silver Crown Cars) in the PRA Big Car Championship 100.
Nextel Cup Stars who have either participated in PRA Big Car races this year or
have indicated their likely participation in the USA Speedway event include:
Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader, Kasey Kahne, and a few
other surprises! Plus, officials just received an entry from X-Games Mega Star
Travis Pastrana, who will make his first ever start in an open wheel car of this
kind.
The PRA Big Car Series consists of the cars previously used in the USAC
Silver Crown Series. Heading into the season finale, former Indy 500 participant
and open wheel standout Chet Fillip is the championship leader ahead of
seven-time Little 500 champion Eric Gordon. Other drivers currently in the top
five include A.J. Fike, Dave Darland and Ron Gregory.
Modified drivers from all over the country have been invited to take part in
the FASCAR vs. The World All-Star Modified Challenge. This 50-lap race is the
opportunity to take the crown jewel of modified racing in front of the top
industry crowd anywhere, and claim bragging rights for a year. For modified
teams outside of Florida, there are bonus programs in place for USA, AMS and
other non-Florida teams.
On Wednesday, December 13, practice will begin at 2 p.m. with qualifying
slated for 4:30. An autograph session will take place at 6:30 with the PRA
Championship 100 going green at 8. The Modified All-Star Challenge 50 will
follow the PRA event. Adult grandstand tickets are $25 on the backstretch and
$30 on the frontstretch. Children 10 and under are $10.
